We tend to think of using screens for privacy, or to block an unattractive view, and they certainly work well for that. As we saw at Molbak's Garden & Home recently, screens can also be used to create a fantastic focal point in the garden.
These bright, clean colors would be great in a shady part of the garden to add color and draw the eye to a formerly unseen spot. The screens overlap each other enough to create a nice sense of enclosure too.
Here the screens have been placed further apart and the heights staggered. This adds structure to a large bed and, in this case, blocks the view of a tire store!
An open weave fence design screens off a very busy street. One or two panels in the garden could hide the lawn mower, garbage cans, or even the view to the driveway...
Love these! What a great way to highlight a neighbor's beautiful Japanese maple, or the bit of woods you can see through their yard - just create a window!
Here, a carved door is suspended from a sturdy pergola. This idea would work well under a second-story deck, too. Or, sturdy legs could be added to the back of the door and secured to pier blocks for a sturdy base. Surround with plants and you have an instant backdrop!
